Line parameters and shapes of high clusters: R-branch of the nu3 band of CH4 in He mixtures

2002

International audience; The IR absorption spectra of CH4 in pure gas and in mixture with helium were studied in the region of nu3 band at higher J line clusters R(17)-R(22). The frequencies and intensities of rotation-vibration lines were estimated from the experimental spectra at Doppler shape conditions. The line frequencies and intensities were calculated and used for the attribution of overlapped lines in clusters. The calculated line intensities are close to the experimental values. The calculated frequency structure of the higher J manifolds are somewhat wider than the observed one. The shapes of helium-broadened line clusters were compared with those calculated accounting for line mi…

NIR-absorbing transition metal complexes with redox-active ligands

2020

Bench top stable transition metal (M = Co, Ni, Cu) complexes with a non-innocent ortho-aminophenol derivative were synthesized by the reaction of metal(II)acetates with a ligand precursor in 2:1 ratio. The solid-state structures reveal the formation of neutral molecular complexes with square planar coordination geometries. The Co(II) and Cu(II) complexes are paramagnetic, whereas the Ni complex is a diamagnetic square planar low-spin Ni(II) complex. All complexes, and Ni(II) complex in particular, show strong absorption in the near-IR region. Peer reviewed

OH-related Infrared Absorption Bands in Oxide Glasses

2005

We report the infrared activity, in the spectral region of the OH stretching modes, of different composite silicate glasses whose chemical composition is established by X-ray fluorescence measurements. The analysis of the absorption line profiles is made in terms of different spectral contributions, Gaussian in shape. The comparison with analogous spectra obtained in vitreous silica samples with impurity concentrations < 100 part per million moles is evidence of the effects of the different oxides on the vibrational properties of the OH groups. In particular, for oxide glasses a red shift of the composite band at about 3670 cm(-1), assigned to the OH stretching modes of free Si-OH groups an…

Intrinsic generation of OH groups in dry silicon dioxide upon thermal treatments

2008

We show the existence of an intrinsic generation mechanism of OH groups in synthetic dry silica upon thermal treatments. Samples are treated for ~160 h at 390 °C in He at 2.7 or 180 bar, and the growth of the OH IR absorption band at 3670 cm−1 is observed. An OH concentration of ~10^18 cm^−3 is estimated. Possible contributions of reactions with molecules absorbed from the atmosphere are excluded. Reactions with H2O already contained in the samples are rejected by IR measurements. The observed OH generation is attributed to the reaction of network sites with H2 already present in the material. Possible reaction paths are examined

Luminescence properties of KNbO3 crystals

1997

Thermostimulated luminescence, X-ray-induced luminescence, photostimulated luminescence as well as the time-resolved luminescence and absorption after pulsed electron beam irradiation were studied in KNbO3 crystals at 80–400 K. A correlation between defects causing the luminescence and blue-light-induced IR absorption effects supressing the second harmonic generation efficiency in KNbO3 is discussed.

Raman and IR investigation of silica nanoparticles structure

2013

Abstract In the present investigation we report experimental data regarding the Raman and Infra-Red (IR) absorption activities of commercial silica nanoparticles. We compared the data of the nanoparticles with the ones acquired in the same experimental conditions for commercial bulk silica. By this comparison we highlighted that the variability of the spectral features of the matrix related Raman and IR bands in the nanoparticles is above the one observed for the bulk systems before any treatments. Furthermore, by studying nanoparticles with different sizes (diameters from 40 to 7 nm) and applying the shell-model we can suggest that the core network of the nanoparticles is close to the one …

Luminescent silicon nanocrystals produced by near-infrared nanosecond pulsed laser ablation in water

2014

Abstract We report the investigation of luminescent nanoparticles produced by ns pulsed Nd:YAG laser ablation of silicon in water. Combined characterization by AFM and IR techniques proves that these nanoparticles have a mean size of ∼3 nm and a core–shell structure consisting of a Si-nanocrystal surrounded by an oxide layer. Time resolved luminescence spectra evidence visible and UV emissions; a band around 1.9 eV originates from Si-nanocrystals, while two bands centered at 2.7 eV and 4.4 eV are associated with oxygen deficient centers in the SiO 2 shell.
